9-22-21 THOUGHTS
We must understand the position of Christ Jesus in God’s plan to save mankind. He is CORNERSTONE or STUMBLINGSTONE! The Jews sought salvation through their law and stumbled over the GRACE AND MERCY OF THE CROSS! They got the physical and the spiritual mixed up. They DID THINGS THEIR WAY! THEY REFUSED TO SEE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD IN THE FACE OF CHRIST JESUS. They did not subject themselves TO THE RIGHTOUSNESS OF GOD! THEY OPERATED WITH IGNORANT ZEAL!
Rom 9:30-10:3 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; 31 but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, 33 just as it is written, "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."
10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. 2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. 3 For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
Num 15:30-31 ‘But the person who does anything defiantly, whether he is native or an alien, that one is blaspheming the LORD; and that person shall be cut off from among his people. 31 ‘Because he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt will be on him.’"
Ps 19:13 Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, And I shall be acquitted of great transgression.
John 6:27-29 "Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." 28 Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" 29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
Hab 2:20 "But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him."
We must avoid SEEKING OUR OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS!
My Prayer:
Lord, teach us to seek your righteousness and not our own. Help us always to be submissive to your word and not defiant or presumptuous toward it. Soften our hearts. Thank you for prayer O God. Help us to bring our hearts and minds to you in humility and sincerity. May we see ourselves truly, as we yield to your great presence. May we wait on you and keep silence before you. We wish to abide in you always O Lord. In the name of Jesus Amen
